Welcome to our free bible memorization system.

It’s a simple concept; we’ve matched a bible verse with each letter from the alphabet.  It was born out of a desire to teach my children the bible.  It is the A to Z approach to learning scripture.  Our goal is for you to hide these verses into your memories and be transformed by the renewing of your minds.  As you begin working through the alphabet, memorizing verses, it will quickly become apparent that God’s word is living and active.  The bible reveals God’s character and His tremendous love for us.  You should consider bringing someone else along on this journey with you, our lives are richer with companions along for the ride.  The system is fun and really easy to use.

Here are some tips to get the most from using the website:

The first thing you’ll notice is a letter of the alphabet followed by an equal sign and then a word.

Let’s use the letter A, as our example.

You see that A=All.

I want you to repeat that, A=All, over and over.  Now say A, A, A is All, All, All.  All is A, A is All, flip it around, turn it into a song.

Listen, this can be light hearted and fun!  We are going to have a good time, which is the best environment we’ve found for learning.

Next we tie what we’ve already learned, A=All, the letter and key word, to the book of the bible, with the chapter and verse where it’s located.

In this instance: A=All was taken from Romans 3:23.

In order to unpack this we suggest you choose to use associations.

Here’s my personal memorization example:

Romans are citizens of the Italian capital.

The 3rd month of the year is March.

My brother, Dan, was born on the 23rd of the month.

So now, when I think A, the word All automatically comes to mind.

Next, I link the associations together so that A also reminds me of citizens of the Italian capital marching on Dan’s birthday.  Can you see how easily Romans 3:23 now comes to my mind?

Your personalization is the key to making this work; use numbers and associations that are relevant to you.

You might not know it yet, but we’ve found that each bible verse has a natural pacing or cadence to it.  Some verses even have songs or jingles naturally tied into their structures; they are just waiting for us to discover them.  As you become intimately familiar with a bible verse, the melody will often rise to the surface.  Don’t believe me?  Go to A and click on the audio link that we’ve provided and listen for yourself.  Each alphabet scripture is accompanied by an audio link, so you can hear just how we’ve unpacked each one of them.  The pacing and intonation we use matters.  Try to imitate what you hear.  Reinforce what you are hearing by reading the verse as you listen to the audio.  We are suggesting you memorize the bold section of each scripture.  The words in bold will match perfectly with the audio clips.  As you hear the verse, repeat it out loud again and again, pausing where we pause.  Lift your voice higher where we do and drop your voice lower when you hear us do it.  If it is a longer verse, you’ll notice it will be built naturally into sections.  Repeat it and review it until the entire verse flows naturally out of your mouth.  We suggest you review these daily; at bedtime or first thing in the morning are the best times to do this.

Please consider this: How do advertisers get consumers to remember their products?  They use jingles and catchphrases; they are careful to use intonation, pacing and musical beats to create pleasing sound bytes in the hopes that you will remember their products.  Why?  Because it works!  That is the way God made us.  This system is built on that same foundation and our audio clips will help you lock these key verses into your memory.

Another feature of the site is that each verse is linked to www.biblegateway.com.

By clicking on the dark green link which designates the location for each scripture, you will be directed to www.biblegateway.com.  It is a remarkable site, and we encourage you to explore it.  We recognize that we are taking these verses out of their intended context.  We encourage you to explore for yourself exactly where each scripture you’re memorizing fits into the bible.  What does it say just prior to the verse we’ve chosen?  What does it continue to say after the verse?  What is the theme of the entire chapter?  Pick up your bible often and study God’s unerring word.  Pray to God for insight; He gives wisdom very freely to those who ask.

We’ve also created an acronym for each verse.  It is an assortment of letters under the verse, and it may look like a jumble.  The acronym takes the first letter from each word in the bible verse and forms a code of its own.  At times, it can be helpful; if you can’t remember the verse and are stuck, look at the acronym.  Sometimes seeing the acronym can help you piece the verse together.  Remember, it’s just a help.  Don’t use it as a crutch; if you are relying on the acronym too often, the scripture hasn’t yet made its way into your long term memory.

Finally, we pray that an anointing from the Lord will rest on this system.  We pray that rich blessings will follow those who choose to use it.  Creating this was a dynamic, life changing experience for our entire family.  We’d like to leave you with these words from the 12th chapter of Romans to consider:

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is– his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (NIV)

There are currently four, A-Z, levels of the memory system; The New International Version (NIV) of the bible was used exclusively to compile these verses.
